Tuesday, November 8, 2011. 7:00pm

Rivka Cymbalist invites you to celebrate the launch of her new book, The Birth Conspiracy

In the emotionally and ideologically charged world of childbirth Rivka Cymbalist emerges as a down-to- earth, non-judgmental voice for women who are overwhelmed by choices and opinions: Alternative practitioners try to convince women that everything would be better if women had their babies at home. Hospitals are quick to point to the risks inherent in childbirth and to the expertise and technology needed to overcome them. Is it any wonder that most pregnant woman feel alone, overwhelmed by facts, ideologies and choices, with everyone wanting a piece of her?

The Birth Conspiracy is a guide for women and their partners, for doulas, and for anyone who is interested in the process of birth. It provides women with a unique opportunity to transcend the pushing and pulling of ideologies in the birthing world and it gently guides and educates women about the birth process and about their options in the hospital and at home. It contains up-to-date research and illustrations by Canadian artist Sara Hartland-Rowe, whose sympathetic drawings provide a pleasing addition to the text.

Centre Communitaire CDN, 6767 Cote des Neiges, suite 602
