Shortwave | jewgrass music & prisoner justice day on shtetl

John Barry has spent much of his adult life in and out of the prison system in Canada, most recently here in Quebec at the Prison de Drummondville. Barry’s mother was a Polish Jew and his father a Catholic. Only later in life did Barry understand what the Star of David around his mother’s neck symbolized. Barry will be in the studio tomorrow to talk about his experience and to help us commemorate Prisoner Justice Day.

Also, tune in to hear Adam Stotland (pictured left) playing a few live songs off his upcoming album Maagal which he describes as “Jewgrass” music! Stotland will be releasing his new album at a live show at the Ghetto Shul on September 1st as part of The Montreal Jewish Music Festival.

Wishing you many lazy summer days,

Tamara
