Jenny Romaine has worked extensively as a puppeteer, performer and director with the Bread & Puppet Theater and with OBIE winning Great Small Works. Romaine’s recent directorial projects include a puppet film called The White Pajamas with Yiddish Canadian memory painter Mayer Kirshenblatt. She has also toured, taught and performed street theater with artists and in communities in Argentina, Afghanistan and India. Romaine has taught at El Puente Academy in Brooklyn and at the Rose M. Singer high school for girls on Riker’s Island, as well as Brandeis University. She has committed over two decades to the cultivation of new Yiddish theater, and community based performance art.
