Events | Jane’s Walk: Traces of Montreal’s Jewish Past

Sunday, May 6, 2012. 11:00 am

The Interactive Museum of Jewish Montreal is presenting its first walking tour!

Follow Zev Moses and Sara Tauben as they weave together the stories of former synagogues and other community institutions from the early 20th century in the Lower Plateau.

The walking tour is part of Jane’s Walk, a series of free neighbourhood walking tours held worldwide each year in memory of Jane Jacobs. The walk helps put people in touch with their environment and with each other, by bridging social and geographic gaps and creating a space for cities to discover themselves.
Be sure to check out other Montreal walks.

Zev Moses is director of the Interactive Museum of Jewish Montreal.

Sara Tauben is author of the recently published Traces of the Past, an architectural and historical “detective” story about Montreal’s early synagogues.

Meet at the Northwest corner of St. Laurent and Sherbrooke at 11:00 am. The tour ends with at the Bagg Street Shul (corner Bagg and Clark).

Because of limited space, make sure to RSVP.
