Events | X-Mas 4 Jews

On Saturday, December 24th, 2011,  join the Mile End Chavurah for a first-ever celebration of… Christmas for Jews.A lesser known holiday, Christmas for Jews emerged from a complex matrix of culturally situated factors, including but not limited to epicurean excess, a longstanding Jewish-Chinese “outsider” alliance, and, of course, sheer convenience. Generally featuring a combination of Chinese food and low-brow cinema, Christmas for Jews has gained significant mainstream recognition over the past half-century.

This Christmas eve, the Chavurah will be celebrating at Luck Hop Foo restaurant on St-Laurent – and you’re invited. Wear your most outlandish holiday-themed sweater, and join us for (a lot of) Chinese food, Jewish fortune cookies, carols (!), and, of course, a film screening after dinner (location TBA). We’re not saying which film(s): it’s a surprise.

The only way to attend this glamourous and exclusive event is to buy a ticket in advance. The deadline for purchasing tickets is Thursday, December 22nd, at 4:oo p.m. CLICK HERE to buy tickets.
