Israel Bartal discusses the Jewish perception of the partitions of Poland from 1772-1795.
Bartal is the Avraham Harman Professor of Jewish History and former Dean of the Faculty of Humanities (2006-2010) at the Hebrew University. He is the author/editor of more than thirty books including The Jews of Eastern Europe 1772-1881 (Penn, 2005).
