Friday on Shtetl find out where Yiddishland is and why all these young coolsters live in this funky, artsy, political & diverse world. Apparently no passport required.

Orkestar Kriminal are at Lambi this Thursday with their Gangster Yiddish style of music!

What can we say? We can’t get enough of these guys! Check out this Yiddish, Cambodian, Rebetika gangster-singing crew at L’Escogriffe.

Exhibiting “Yiddish Gangster” as their core repertoire, Orkestar Criminal joined forces just one month ago to scam some POP Montreal passes. Check them out with Dear Criminal this Halloween at Divan Orange.

Orkestar Kriminal formed three days before Pop Montréal 2012, so that Gigi French’s former orchestra could scam free passes to the festival. Gutsy and adventurous, these improv performers do inspired renditions of slum-based “world music” from a dangerously forgotten era. Promises to be a high-energy danceable 5 à 7!
