The Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre and the Jewish Public Library are proud to present a mini black and white Yiddish film festival, presenting three feature films.

East and West (Austria, 1923, B&W Silent) – 2:00 pm
A delightful Yiddish comedy starring the legendary Molly Picon
Directed by Sidney M. Goldin and Ivan Abramson
Presented with English and Yiddish intertitles

Without a Home (Poland, 1939, B&W) – 4:00 pm
Directed by Alexander Martin
Adapted from a stage play by Jacob Gordin
Presented in Yiddish with English subtitles

The story of the separation and hardships faced by immigrants in America at the turn of the century. The last Yiddish feature made in Poland before WWII, this 1939 film was based on a 1907 play by the prolific playwright Jacob Gordin.

Presented in Yiddish with English subtitles.

Impoverished and disabled lovers Fishke and Hodel dream of life in the big city of Odessa, free from the poverty and stifling old-world prejudices of the shtetl.
