QUIET (Dance Piece) – Arkadi Zaides
October 12th to 13th – MAI: Montréal, Arts Interculturels (3680 rue Jeanne-Mance)
Arkadi Zaides is an independent choreographer from Israel who “uses dance as a means to critically explore his country’s identity.” He graduated from the prestigious Batsheva Dance Company, and his work has been met with acclaim worldwide.
This particular piece looks at issues of masculinity in Israeli society, Palestinian-Israeli conflict, despair, confrontation, violence, and mistrust, in complex ways, through movement. It features four dancers, both Arab/Palestinian and Israeli, including Zaides himself.
This will be the only Canadian stop on a world tour that began in 2010, as well as being Zaides’ first visit to Quebec.
Regular tickets are $25
