December 10th is the 63rd anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In honour of this event Canadian Friends of Rabbis for Human Rights (Montreal) present:

Reuven Shultz, former director of the Labour Zionist Alliance in Montreal.  He will be speaking on The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Israel’s Declaration of Independence, and the Protests of 2011

Two Declarations: Israel’s Declaration of Independence and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. What were the conditions in the world that brought together 48 nations of different value systems and political cultures to agree on a historic document? What was the vision that created the state of Israel? What has happened to that spirit of compromise and to that vision?
